Actions and Listening Suggestions:

I'm a Funky Teapot

Everything old is new again! This song involves both rhythmic speaking and singing. Some of the "rap" parts may be too complicated for younger children to do themselves but they enjoy keeping time dancing, clapping or snapping. The actions for the "funky" version are the same as for the traditional version.

Try having one or more children demonstrate the difference between an "ordinary" teapot and a "funky" teapot (a pair of dark sunglasses may help!).

In concert, we have children do the "You need me when you want a cup of tea" line. The hand motions are:

  1. "You"...Point forward with your index finger
  2. "Me" ...Point to yourself with your thumb
  3. "When you want a cup of tea" ...Hold a pretend cup of tea in your hand and drink it
