The noble duke of York, he had ten thousand men
He marched them up the hill
And then he marched them down again
And when you're up you're up
And when you're down, you're down
And when you're only half way up
You're neither up nor downThe noble duke of York...
The noble duke of York, he had a marching band
He marched them to the top of the hill
And he marched them down again
And when you're up you're up
And when you're down, you're down
And when you're only half way up
You're neither up nor downThe noble duke of York, he had a marching band
He marched them all around the town and clear across the land
He marched them over mountains and 'cross the desert sands
In fact I think I hear 'em now, the noble duke's marchin' bandThe noble duke of York, he had a marching band
He marched them to the top of the hill
And he marched them down again
And when you're up you're up
And when you're down, you're down
And when you're only half way up
You're neither up nor down

Well there are all kinds of things if you look around
That make some kind of wonderful sound
Like a running stream or a plane in flight
But there's one bunch of sounds that can give me a fright
It's those creepy little... noises in the night
Theres a lonely wolf (a-ooo) howling at the moon
Theres an old grey owl (hoo-hoo) singing a midnight tune
Theres a creeky door (creek) opening down the hall
Sometimes the scariest sound is no sound at all
You know, no matter how bad my fear
When I fall asleep, it disappears
And when I wake in the morning's light then I realize that I was right
There is nothing much to fear from... noises in the nightThere's a lonely wolf...
Was that an owl I heard, well, it’s just a bird
It makes me shiver, take my word
Was that a couple of cats picking a fight?
Or an alien monster shrieking with delight?
I really cannot stand those noises in the night.Theres a lonely wolf...
