We know the way to a magical place where a stereo comes to life and where anything can happen.
Wanna know how to get there? Drop in a CD, push 'Play', and join in the music and WONDER of YTV's newest sing-along show, Judy & David's Boom Box. Join Juno award winners Judy & David and their boom box, Boomie, as they are challenged with fun and clever rhyming riddles called "Rhyma-diddles". Along with the viewers, Judy & David solve the clues and answer the Rhymadiddle with a song. With Boomie providing the hot musical accompaniment, Judy & David lead viewers on a colourful, high-energy riff-romping ride through great original children's songs. There's dancing, silliness, and lots of opportunities for audience participation. So tune in for this fun-filled journey into musical discovery. No batteries required. Background Canadian children’s recording artists, Judy & David, have sold millions of cassettes internationally, but have only recently become well-known in Canada with their 1998 Juno win. The increased recognition was just the opportunity they were looking for to help bring their pet TV project to life. For several years, the duo has been guests on other programs. Rather than simply showing up and singing, the couple often brought with them a small story or context for the song -- a “shtick”. When they realized that their guest spots were really just small shows within other shows, the idea for Boom Box was born mini TV shows written around a song. Boom Box is tailored perfectly to the couple’s unique music high energy, parent-friendly, and with a strong emphasis on interactive participation. Every episode features children affectionately known by the production team as the “Other Side of the Screen Kids”. These children are shown watching the show as it happens in their own living room. They sing-along, dance along and join in the actions. Their presence helps serve as a catalyst for the active involvement of the real home viewer. Boom Box’s main emphasis is on fun! There’s a hefty dose of magic, discovery, and just plain silliness in every episode not to mention tunes that are YTV hip and catchy enough to grab the attention of an unsuspecting parent or older sibling. In fact, rumour has it that YTV crews could be heard absent-mindedly singing songs from the series well past the end of production. The shows and music were written by Judy & David; however, they credit YTV producers Steve Sloan and Brian Nasimok, director Kim Elaschuk, choreographer Risa Waldman, and a stellar production team for helping bring their ideas to reality.
