Dynamic Duo Visits Aylmer

by Kathy Copping

The APAC Children's Program for the 1995-96 season was launched with a bang on Saturday, November 18, with Judy and David.

This vibrant husband and wife team started their career three years ago from very different backgrounds.

Judy, a former North York teacher, was trained in classical piano, while David is the type of fun-loving character you would find leading sing-a-longs at camp.

Their original songs, added to the traditional children's songs with a spark new twist is a winning combination.

Judy and David, who have been touring Ontario some times with their band, sometimes without, have sold almost 3 million copies of their albums around the world and have just completed their first television special.

They are very excited about all this success and came to Aylmer to spread their excitement.

From the very first song in their performance, audience participation was mandatory.

The excitement was contagious. This refreshing young couple came gimmick free and had children and adults alike dancing in the aisles.

We were rapping to the funky new beat of "I'm A Little Teapot," twisting, shouting, and jumping up and down.

We were introduced to the new little pigs who passed on the market and roast beef and headed for the new venues of New York and London.

What a wonderful way to enjoy those familiar old tunes. There were more gentle moments as well when Judy with the voice of an angel performed an original ballad titled "Rainbow Waiting For Me."

Then, during a sing-a-long of "Kumbaya", the entire hall brought out its very best voices. Their music is rich and full of magic. The hour passed much too quickly.

The children filed out singing and chattering, and Judy and David could see that they brought a ray of sunshine to a cold, rainy day in Aylmer.
