Review: Jumpin' Up & Down

Canadian duo Judy & David are enormously popular in the Great White North, and it's easy to see why. Jumpin' Up & Down, their fifth album, has everything a great early-childhood record should: simple, catchy tunes, plenty of nursery rhymes, oodles of humor. Even a dose of learning, as exemplified in the clapping game "La Bouche," which teaches parts of the body in French. A cheerful sense of silliness pervades Jumpin' Up & Down, from the neatophobe's rap in "Hate to Clean" to the all-chicken rendition of "You Are My Sunshine." The duo rings creative changes on standards like "I'm a Funky Teapot," and there's a sweet song about optimism called "Rainbow Waiting for Me." What more could a preschooler want?
